Summary: The Story is framed in future which doesn't seem so unreal after the Covid's arrival as the sudden change in education system that has taken  place somehow does create an image that the world education system can totally shift from having human teachers, school, printed books to machine based education system and digital books. The story features the idea of books, school and a human teacher as a history when Tommy finds his great grandfather's dairy mentioning the story. There is a contrast shown in lives styles and education system of the children belonging to past and future(present in context of the characters mentioned while future for the readers).

What we want the learners to know, understand and be able to do.

 

The child will be able to appreciate the text, understands the characters and can do a comparison between the education system of the present and the one that is portrayed in the story, tries to find a story with similar theme,  sub-skills : writing a paragraph, completing a story.

He/she will be able to comprehend the theme of the story, be able to explain new/difficult words, any literary devices used in the chapters, get inspired/develop their imaginative skill, learn how the times are changing, how they will have to change as well, to understand the type of story (open ended or closed ended) The tone of the story, the grammar portion within the story,

Lesson Activities [10 minutes]

Showing pictures to the class and letting them come up with the story based on their own imagination. 

To name the changes they under went during lock down in education field. 

 

Assessment

Introductory activity:

Discussion on the topics they mentioned, and skimming the chapter if they can find the similar words.


 

[10 minutes]

Main activity: to assign the students paragraphs and tell ask them to explain it to their friends and the listeners will raise questions. They can add to what their friends might have left. The teacher can help summarize what the students might have left.

Ask the students as to how do they view the changes coming up in next 20 years, could the scenario in the story come real within these 20 years.
