Teaching Procedure

Introduction (5 minutes)

  • Begin with simple sentences: The cat is fat.
  • Ask students what words describe the noun (cat).
  • Introduce the term "adjective" and explain its role.

Presentation (10 minutes)

  • Use flashcards and a chart to explain:
    • Types of adjectives: Quality, Quantity, Number, Demonstrative, Interrogative, Possessive
  • Types of Adjectives

    1. Adjective of Quality (Descriptive Adjective)

    • Describes the kind or nature of a noun

    • Answers: What kind?

    • Examples: tall boy, beautiful flower, honest man

    • Sentence: She wore a red dress.


    2. Adjective of Quantity

    • Tells how much of something (uncountable nouns)

    • Answers: How much?

    • Examples: some milk, little water, enough food

    • Sentence: He drank some juice.


    3. Adjective of Number

    • Tells how many (countable nouns) or in what order

    • Answers: How many? / Which one in order?

    • Examples: two books, many people, first prize

    • Sentence: She has three dogs.


    4. Demonstrative Adjective

    • Points out specific nouns

    • Examples: this, that, these, those

    • Sentence: These apples are fresh.


    5. Interrogative Adjective

    • Used with nouns to ask questions

    • Examples: which, what, whose

    • Sentence: Which subject do you like most?


    6. Possessive Adjective

    • Shows possession or ownership

    • Examples: my, your, his, her, our, their

    • Sentence: My phone is on the table.

    • Examples for each type
  • Show a picture and model how to describe it using adjectives

Practice (15 minutes)

  • Activity 1: Identify adjectives in a paragraph (worksheet)
  • Activity 2: Picture Description—students describe given pictures in pairs

Evaluation (5 minutes)
